**added a couple of additional screenshots showing the tag names, and the tag properties in Kepware. The Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet driver for KEPServerEX has many options for communicating with these symbolic addresses and UDTs in the PLCs. I am not an experienced controls engineer, and this is really my first experience working with PLC language, Kepware, etc. I am hoping someone can shine some light on this issue for me. KEPServerEX version 5.14 also features significant performance improvements to the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver, designed to take advantage of larger packet sizes allowed in v20 ControlLogix Controllers and higher.

You pay for a Rockwell OPC driver because it’s unlikely that the software you want communicating with the PLC (like a SCADA or historian package) supports EtherNet/IP or PCCC comms, but likely that it supports OPC. I have attemped both Synchronous Writes and Asynchronous Writes to the tags, but I immediately fail each time (see screenshot of logfile attached). The PLC’s can be communicated with via EtherNet/IP or PCCC directly. I have boolean tags in the PLC that correlate to certain functions, such as counter resets. I have successfully performed read operations on all of the relevant tags I need, so I know the communication is working in that direction - the issue is when I try to write data to the tags.

The Automatic Device Discovery feature for SNMP and Ping drivers allows KEPServerEX to scan a network, detect devices, and then choose devices and their associated tags for import. I have a fully populated list of machine tags presented to me (around 34,000 tags in total) and I am able to view the real data on these tags when opening the OPC Quick Client to view them. New features allow OPC server KEPServerEX to coordinate device communications over virtual networks. I am using KEPServerEX to connect to the AB controller using OPC-UA protocol. My company recently purchased a new MES system (Critical Manufacturing) and along with it we purchased Kepware in order to bridge the gap between machine and MES.
